| From MTV's "Celebrity Death Match," it's "Howard v. Kathie Lee." It lasts approximately 3:31 and is 9MB in size. Because of it's incredible popularity (re: bandwidth charges) I've had to remove it from the site temporarily. Send me an email and we'll see about uploading it to alt.binaries.howard-stern. This "Celebrity Death Match" is NOT a screensaver. It cannot be emailed to you as it is to large for email. Please read above on how to acquire it. Thank you. | ![]() |
Stern Show icons!

Mike created these cursors for public use. To install them, read the read.me file that's included in the download.
Here's a sample of what they look like:

You can download these as a .zip file from here. (File size is 7kb).

James has created a bunch of free computer stuff, including some cool cursors of the Stern Show gang!
Here's a sample of what they look like:

You can download these as a .zip file from here. (File size is 30kb).
[Ed. - June 29, 2001 - You can get to these people at www.aircheckfactory.com, but a search done today doesn't list any Howard material.]
Thanks to PirateJim for this item...
Thought I'd step out of lurking to say that I came across this company out in Wisconsin that sells aircheck tapes of radio stations and famous radio personalities.
They have a TON of tapes - most importantly, though, they have some tapes of Howard.
Here's what I found in their catalog...
45 MIN WXRK 1/6/86 discussing ratings 45 WXRK 1/7/86 with fired Jay Thomas 90 WXRK 2/18/86 first AM drive show 90 WNBC 4/31/85 (yes, I know there's no such date) 90 WXRK 11/18/85 first day at station 90 WXRK 1/20/86 45 WWDC 1/2/81 Washington 45 WAVA 7/8/92 Arlington, VA (??? - was he here?) 45 WXRK 1/16/86 45 WXRK 1/17/86 45 WNBC 1/12/84 45 WNBC 2/24/84 45 WXRK 5/2/86 WNBC funeralThe price list says that a 1-hour cassette is $7.50 plus shipping. There is no price given for cassettes of other lengths, and no phone number, just the address. There was also no order form, although there are logos for various credit cards. Shipping is $2 for the first cassette, 40 cents for each additional, but free shipping for orders $49 or over (this is all for continental US).

In June 1997, Howard was commenting about the Garry Kasparov v. Deep Blue chess re-match. Never one to believe anything is hard to do, Howard said he'd like to play "Deep Blue" in a match. That event never came off. At that same time, Robin had mentioned that she was considering getting married(!), and Howard went into his usual "Stay single!" rant. This is when something a little more interesting happened. Howard ended up challenging Robin's current boyfriend, "Tony," to a game.
As you know, Howard rarely does anything without laying a few bets on the side. And this event is no exception to that rule.
The stakes:
- if Howard wins, "Tony" has promised to propose marriage to Robin (and while Robin has indicated that she might like to get married to "Tony," she's stated on the air that she has not completely made up her mind as to whether or not she would actually take him up on his offer)."
- if "Tony" wins, he does not have to marry Robin.
With those stakes in mind, make your bets!
Now this game is going to take awhile, as Howard & "Tony" are each making one move per day. Keep checking back, I'll keep the move list updated daily.
Here are the moves to date:
WHITE: Howard Stern BLACK: "Tony" 1. P-K4 P-K3 2. P-Q3 N-KB3 3. P-K5 N-Q4 4. N-Q2 N-QB3 5. KN-B3 B-B4 6. N-K4 B-K2 7. P-Q4 P-B4 8. PxPep NxP 9. B-Q3 N-QN5 10. O-O NxN 11. BxN P-Q4 12. B-Q3 NxB 13. PxN P-KR3 14. N-K5 O-O 15. Q-B3 RxQ 16. resigns
And, just who is "Tony" anyway? A couple of possibilities are attorney Chris Darden or Troy Roberts of CBS News, both of whom have dated Robin in recent months. Listening to Howard talk to "Tony" while they're making moves really doesn't give any absolute clues, but he does sound a little more like Chris Darden (to me) than he sounds like Troy Roberts.
Today (7/22/97), Howard made it known that "Mr. X" is NOT Chris Darden. So, who is he?
If you don't know any of the basics about chess, there's a great reference here.
Something for you DOOM and DOOM2 players. Here's a couple of .wad files I've found that are pretty neat. They are both sound .wads only. The first is stern.wad (447K). The second is stooges.wad (149K). If you have never used 3rd party .wad files with DOOM or DOOM2, here's the quick instructions (363 bytes) for these add-ins. Have fun!
Some DOOM2 stuff! Wayne has created this new add-in. These setup instructions are also included in the .zip.
First of all, place all the .gif files and .wav files into a directory named "newstuff," which you create in your DOOM2 directory. Put hson.bat, hsoff.bat, dmaud.exe and dmgraph.exe in your DOOM2 directory.
When you type "hson," from the DOOM2 DOS prompt before you play, Howard Stern will replace the "cacodemons," and shoot "Robin Quivers" fireballs at you!! (Example at right.) When you're tired of "The King of All Media," type "hsoff," and you'll be back to regular play.
Download Wayne's DOOM2 add-in (280K) here.
Jack Tripper created this Duke Nukem 3D add-on of Howard Stern Show sounds.
This works with the original release of Duke Nukem 3D.
The Howard Stern Screensaver for Windows (363K). This is wholly created by Jeff Newman. I strongly suggest reading the "readme.txt" file when you get it unzipped.
Now, here's something for you Macintosh users. An enterprising someone named Dethstar is busy making custom Macintosh startup screens, specializing in Pamela Lee. He's now created a Howard Stern screen, and that's available here in a zipped (285K) version. Please contact Dethstar if you have a problem.
It's a simple program that I wrote during a practice session.
What you get is a nice picture of Ben Stern with two buttons that will play: "Shutup Sit Down" or "I told you not to be stupid ya moron." It also has a feature called the Ben-o-Matic that reminds you not to be stupid every 15 or 30 minutes.
It's pretty much a piece of crap, but I find it amusing. Hopefully you will too.
It is rather large, since I included some files that you may or may not have.
It requires VB40032.DLL which is not included. If you need it, e-mail me and I'll (Joe) send it to you. [Ed. - or see below.] It runs on WIN95 only!
Enjoy,
Joe (aka GanjaDin)

Here's a little something Wayne came up with. A Baba-Booey icon you can use for Windows. Who knows, it may work on a MAC too. It's called smile.ico, (about 2K in size un-zipped). You can get it, zipped, here.
