I'm being told WXNR dropped Howard after last Friday's show. The station apparently didn't renew Howard's contract and would rather pay Lex & Terry those big Grenville, NC, bucks.
Sorry, Greenville!

WXNR announced on the air last night that Howard would be returning to the station, but at nights instead of mornings.

This is the latest story that's going around:
WXNR in Greenville replaced Howard with Lex and Terry in the mornings but allowed fans to call in to see the interest in Howard. As such, they've agreed to rerun Howard at night starting December 26. No word on whether it will be the whole show or just a portion of it, or of what time it will start.

That contract came to an end and the show found itself a new suitor with a considerably larger signal. Beasley Broadcasting owns WXNR and has had success with Lex & Terry in other markets.
"Lex & Terry have produced amazing results in this market on a signal that did not cover most of the metro, but now we have brought them to a station that provides full market coverage," tells Jeff Sanders, VP of Programming for Beasley Broadcasting, "I can't tell you how relieved I am to have them on my team instead of competing against them."
The Lex & Terry Morning Radio Network is a product of Cox Radio Syndication and can be heard across the country on stations like WFYV-Jacksonville, WXRC-Charlotte, WSJZ-New Orleans, KFNK-Seattle, WJBX-Ft. Myers, WNPL-Nashville and many more.

In a bold move, BEASLEY Alternative WXNR (NEW ROCK 99X)/GREENVILLE-NEW BERN, NC has signed a multi-year deal with syndicated morning duo, LEX & TERRY to replace HOWARD STERN. This surprising turn of events was made possible when LEX & TERRY's previous local affiliate, WXQR (ROCK 105), breached their current agreement by failing to deliver an agreed upon broadcast area due to insufficient signal strength.
BEASLEY BROADCASTING VP/Programming JEFF SANDERS said, "This change is pretty significant. It will affect more than 30 percent of males in EASTERN CAROLINA. HOWARD STERN has performed well for 99X, but a strategic programming opportunity arose, and I took advantage of it. It's obvious that LEX & TERRY were the only thing ROCK 105 had going for it."
"99X had an opportunity to sign LEX & TERRY a few years ago, but negotiations fell through. It's taken some time, but we're finally able to make it happen and get them on a full-market signal!"
Thanks to RobK for first telling me about this...
