Just like any other radio personality who's syndicated, Howard has lost some affialiate stations through the years.
Here's a list of those cities which no longer hear Howard:

  1. New Orleans, LA. WEZB 97.1 FM - WEZB changed formats to Adult AC and bought out Howard's contract. (June 1996)
  2. Richmond, VA. WVGO 106.5 FM - the station changed owners, claimed the ratings were declining, and will probably buy out Howard's contract (at $250,000 per year) for the next year and a half. (July 1996)
  3. El Paso, TX. KROD 600 AM - apparently negotiations on a new contract for KROD carrying the show have fallen through. (November 1996)
  4. Norfolk, VA. WKOC 93.7 FM - citing low ratings for the show and an un-willingness to then pay to air Howard, WKOC has dropped the show. (June 1997)
  5. San Jose, CA. KOME 98.5 FM - Howard moved to KITS, "Live 105" in San Francisco, so CBS dropped the show in San Jose. (May 1998)
  6. Montreal, Canada. CHOM 97.7 FM - despite being near the top of the ratings, CHOM dropped Howard because they couldn't stand the heat from the Canadian Broadcast Standards Council. (August 1998)
  7. Denver, CO. KKHK 99.5 FM - David Juris, vice president and general manager of KKHK, cited "overwhelming negative reaction from listeners who did not want Stern's type of radio on the air" before The Howard Stern Show airs one time. (September 1998)
  8. Minneapolis/St. Paul, MN. WRQC 100.3 FM - apparently because of sinking ratings, WRQC dropped Howard during a format change. (August 1999)
  9. Toledo, OH. WBUZ 106.5 FM - blaming ratings and expense, new owners Cumulus Broadcasting Media dropped Howard. (December 1999)
  10. New Orleans, LA. KKND 106.7 FM - Howard's contract was up and not renewed. This is actually the third time Howard's been dropped in New Orleans. (December 1999)
  11. Fayetteville, NC. WRCQ 103.5 FM - blaming ratings and expense, new owners Cumulus Broadcasting Media dropped Howard. (January 2000)
  12. Davenport, IA. KORB 93.5 FM - blaming ratings and expense, new owners Cumulus Broadcasting Media dropped Howard. (February 2000)
  13. Indianapolis, IN. WNAP 93.1 FM - Emmis Communications dropped Howard after changing the station's format to Top 40/Mainstream (which means a lot of Britney Spears and N'Sync). (March 2000)
  14. Denver, CO. KXPK 96.5 FM - Emmis Communications dropped Howard after changing the station's format to 80's music. (September 2000)
  15. Peoria, IL. WFXF 102.3 FM - Howard gets dropped when Kelly Communications sells the station. (October 2000)
  16. Bloomington/Normal, IL. WIHN 96.7 FM - Howard gets dropped when Kelly Communications sells the station. (October 2000)
  17. Charlotte, NC. WXRC 95.7 FM - apparently because they couldn't bill enough to pay for the show, WXRC dropped Howard. (April 2001)
  18. Panama City, FL. WYYX 97.7 FM - claiming they weren't selling enough advertising to pay for the show, station management dropped Howard. (August 2001)
  19. Myrtle Beach, S.C. WYAV 104.1 FM - claiming they were "not being able to come to a financial agreement over the renewal of their contract, citing the high cost of the show and Howard's apparent inflexibility over the terms," Howard was dropped. (September 2001)
  20. Wilkes-Barre, PA. WXBE 97.9 FM/WXAR 95.7 FM - citing expense, WXBE/WXAR dropped the show. "What he (Stern) wants is too much," explained Steve Griffin, The Bear's general manager. (September 2001)
  21. Toronto, ON. CILQ 107.1 FM - The show was dropped after a steady decline in local ratings. (November 2001)
  22. Anchorage, AK. KADX 94.7 FM - The show was dropped because of many management and station problems. (December 2002)
  23. Madison, WI. WTLX 100.5 FM - The show was dropped because Howard's "contract with the station expired and there are not enough listeners to justify the costs involved in carrying the show." (July 2003)
  24. Greenville, N.C. WXNR 99.5 FM - The show was dropped because the station didn't renew Howard's contract. (September 2003)
  25. Louisville, KY. WTFX 100.5 FM - Clear Channel dropped Howard for indecency. Go here for more info. (February 2004)
  26. York, PA. WQXA 105.7 FM - CITADEL boss FARID SULEMAN dumps Howard for mentioning Sirius Satellite Radio on the show. (January 2005)
  27. Providence, RI. WWKX 106.3 FM & 102.7 FM - CITADEL boss FARID SULEMAN dumps Howard for mentioning Sirius Satellite Radio on the show. (January 2005)
  28. Syracuse, N.Y. WAQX 95.7 FM - CITADEL boss FARID SULEMAN dumps Howard for mentioning Sirius Satellite Radio on the show. (January 2005)
  29. Grand Rapids, MI. WBBL 1340 AM - CITADEL boss FARID SULEMAN dumps Howard for mentioning Sirius Satellite Radio on the show. (January 2005)
  30. Ft. Lauderdale/Miami WQAM 560 AM - thanks to the complaints by self-proclaimed "decency crusader" Jack "The Censor" Thompson Howard gets dropped. (January 2005)
  31. Lexington, KY. WLXO 96.1 FM - The station's contract with Howard was due to expire February 1, but the station opted out early due to a format change. (January 2005)
  32. Fall River, MA. WKKB 100.3 FM - The station dropped Howard just after the first of the year. (January 2005)
  33. Ft. Myers, FL. WRXK 96.1 FM - Howard's contract expired on April 7 and he's not renewing any expiring contracts with broadcast radio stations. (April 2005)
  34. Columbus, OH. WBZX 99.7 FM - citing an "upcoming FCC investigation" WBZX drops the show. (September 2005)
  35. Las Vegas, NV. KXTE 107.5 FM - unable to get an agreement to extend the show's contract, Las Vegas loses the show six weeks before Howard's final show for Infinity
