Each of these releases, in original packaging, are fairly rare today, especially as you go down this list to the older releases. Each, except the movie soundtrack, was sold via the 800-52-STERN number, and only in those markets in which Howard was on the air at that time, so less and less people will have them. None of these (except "50 Ways...") have ever been re-released.

Released on video & laserdisc on July 22, 1997, Private Parts is now available at your local video store. Now is your chance to check out one of the better movies of the year in the privacy of your own home. So prepare your favorite party favors, sit back and crank the volume! Initial pricing for the video is more than $100, which is pretty steep for any fan to afford, but never fear. (Rumor has it there's no copy-protection on the tape). Pay-per-view release is coming in August, 1997, and showings on the movie cable channels are not far away either, premiering on HBO on February 7, 1998. Warm up your VCR! Feb. 19, 1998 - Private Parts has now been released at much lower prices. Stores like Circuit City and CostCo are selling it for under $15. There's no excuse now to not pick up a copy for yourself.
What you see to the left is a new, alternate cover that doesn't replace the original cover, but which was released in addition to the original, which matched the cd cover. Apparently some of these stores did not approve of looking at Howard without a shirt on, so Paramount gave them this alternate version. |
Released on February 25, 1997, the soundtrack for Private Parts most definitely kicks! There's a bunch of topical music ("Smoke on the Water," "Cat Scratch Fever," etc.) that fit the movies time frame of the 70's and early 80's. Between each song there are snippets of movie dialogue that segue each song into the next. But it's the new stuff that is really good and makes the cd take off. Howard sings with Rob Zombie, Perry Farrell's Janes Addiction re-unites, Marilyn Manson jams up a storm and LL Cool J raps his butt off (even though he had to have his name blanked out from the cd because of his record company). Ozzy Osbourne joins up with Type O Negative for a Black Sabbath-y re-make of Status Quo's "Pictures of Matchstick Men" and Green Day re-does The Kinks' classic "Tired of Waiting For You." Ben Stern gets a track all to himself called the "Ben Stern Megamix," a Charlie Clauser (of Nine Inch Nails)-mixed version of Ben's singing, yelling and carrying on. Howard's Dust Brothers-produced "Tortured Man" closes out the cd in fine fashion. As a promotional tool, there was one soundtrack cd that didn't contain a cd, but had a solid gold disk inserted into the package. On April 22, 1998, Brian from Minneapolis claims to have found the gold CD! However, it seems this call was a fake, as the CD case was not supposed to contain the actual gold CD, but a certificate to redeem in return for the gold CD.
A Platinum Record for Howard! At the post-premiere party, held 2/27/97 after the premiere of the movie, while Howard was taping the 2/28/97 radio show, Warner Brothers Records Executive Vice-President Jeff Gold presented Howard with a platinum record plaque for the shipment of 1,000,000 copies of the soundtrack.
The Soundtrack Hits #1! On March 4, 1997, Billboard magazine announced that the soundtrack has become the fastest-selling movie soundtrack in history, surpassing "Waiting to Exhale." The cd will debut at #1 on the Billboard "Hot 200" on the March 9, 1997 list.
Private Parts is certified Platinum! On June 2, 1997, the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) certified Private Parts as a Platinum Record, an award for selling 1,000,000 copies.
Also, this cd comes with 4 alternate covers, one of which is especially rare as it was released only to radio stations. The others, except the main "generic" cover, were available at your nearest music store. There were only a few thousand copies of each of these alternate covers released, and I think it's safe to assume that they can now be considered collectors items. Once again, Howard surprises all of his enemies and satisfies all of his fans with a kick-ass project!

New Year's Rotten Eve 1994
| Four-hundred-thousand household buy's made this the highest grossing, (some say $40,000,000), non-sports, pay-per-view event ever. "New Year's Rotten Eve 1994" is a landmark in television history. Howard's unique take on beauty pageants will be hard to forget. Celebrity judges Joe Frazier, Mark Hamill, Sherman Helmsley, Tiny Tim and John Wayne Bobbitt join Howard in judging some of the worst, and funniest, contestants you can imagine. And some you can't imagine, no matter how hard you try. The contestant's came from all of Howard's market's at the time, each with their own one-of-a-kind act that must be seen to be believed as they vie for the $50,000 first prize. Won by Elaine Marx, wife of Corky, who still haunts the show because of his pending divorce from Elaine. Also features a telethon for John Bobbitt's penis, during which almost $200,000 was raised. Howard offers Bobbitt $15,000 to show his recently surgically-repaired penis on the show, an offer Bobbitt turned down. The best skit is the opening one, with Howard made-up as Michael Jackson and torturing a midget who is playing a small child. Released in 1994, the video also included an excellent, full-size print of the Leroy Neiman painting of Howard that the gang had made for his birthday in January 1994. The original painting can be seen on the current E! show, hanging in the green room of the original WXRK studios. |

Released in 1992, "Butt Bongo Fiesta" came on the heels of the ending of the WWOR television show. Howard was doing all kinds of "butt-bongoing" at the time and the title skit on the video is a send-up of Hispanic dance shows, with your host "Howard Estern." The video also features Jessica Hahn in the 3-D skit "Jungle Man", "Guess Who's the Jew" with Kurt Waldheim, Jr. and KKK-guy Daniel Carver, see Capt. Janks go on a date with John DeBella's wife (which Howard predicted would happen in his battle with DeBella in Philadelphia), the "Gross Video Contest" winners, Boy-Gary dressed as an ape and eating his baby doody, the classic "Tribute to Vagina," and you get to tag along on a real, live, lesbian dial-a-date. Original tapes will come with the official 3-D glasses as well. Many consider this to be Howard's best video of all. Exact sales figures were never released, but the best guess-timates were that "Butt Bongo Fiesta" sold about 300,000 copies with virtually no advertising except for Howard pushing it on the show. |

Unleashed as a two CD (or two cassette) boxed-set, "Crucified by the FCC" is comprised of bits from the radio show that were either edited heavily for language or that caused Howard & Co. to get fined by the FCC, including the infamous Christmas party show from December 16, 1988, where a show guest plays the piano with his erect penis and the black lesbian, to whom Howard referred to as being "filled with lust," and the April 24, 1987, anti-censorship rally where "Grandpa" Al Lewis yells, into Howard's live microphone, (and with no benefit of delay), "Fuck the FCC!" Far too much other material is in this set to even attempt to go into a lot of detail here, instead go ahead and listen to it below! The original booklet liner notes were written by Kevin Renzulli of www.koam.com.
Because of it's incredible popularity (re: bandwidth charges) I've had to remove it from the site temporarily. Send me an email and we'll see about uploading the parts you would like to hear to alt.binaries.howard-stern. |

What started out as a fight between Howard and Gary about who was better at tennis evolved into "U.S. Open Sores." The video was recorded at a sold-out Nassau Coliseum in 1989 and released that same year. Howard sold 16,000 seats to sell-out the show in only four hours (better than most rock bands do!). Features Grandpa Al of "The Munsters," Dr. King hypnotizing Penthouse Pet Kimberly Taylor so she orgasms whenever Howard touches his ear (that is, if she's not faking it...watch the tape and decide for yourself), Sam Kinison & Jessica Hahn trying to make up after their feud, Quentin the Stutterer, GinaMan and Crazy Jerry (of "This is Mother Theresa speaking from the bed..." fame), Vinnie Mazzeo sets his hair/hat on fire, and of course, the main event, Howard vs. Gary in a set of tennis. Another highlite is Robin playing tennis against a listener named Darren the Foot-Licker. Darren was in love with Robin and is/was a foot fetishist. When he loses his match to Robin, he (supposedly) lost the right to ever bother her again with his fetish, although he did not live up to his part of the bargain. Sam Kinison finished out the show with a redition of "Wild Thing" with Leslie West and Pig Vomit playing backup for him. The video was the first time listeners got to see the WXRK studios. Not extremely noteworthy today as far as Howard's video's go when compared to some of the others. And who won the tennis match between Howard and Gary? You'll have to watch to tape to find out! |

"Negligee and Underpants Party," released in 1988, was Howard's first big pay-per-view event, shown only in the New York City/Connecticut area on February 27, 1988, from which this video was released. The name comes from the fact that everyone in the studio was dressed only in their underwear. Some celebrities who appear include: Richard Belzer, Penn & Teller, Leslie West, Emo Phillips and Judy Tenuta, Steve Rossi, Jessica Hahn (before a lot of her cosmetic surgery), wack-packer Siobhan the transsexual and Becky the Mental Patient. Skits include the "Gay Untouchables", Vinnie Mazzeo cooking eggs on his flaming pants (a definite highlite of the show), the homeless man supermarket spree and Howard wrestling with two lesbians on a bed after they attack him and rip off his clothes. |

Originally released on vinyl in 1982 on Wren Records, this is the first Howard Stern project outside of the radio show, dating back to WWDC (DC101) in Washington, DC. It was re-released on CD in 1994 as "Unclean Beaver" when the rights to it were bought out from under Howard. Valued mainly by complet-ists, it's really not very good. Lots of radio bits. The original LP featured a poster, which, if you're collecting, you'll also want to watch for. Never promoted and barely mentioned by Howard in 1994, it sold then mainly by word of mouth. Listening to this will show you how refined the show really has become since 1982. If you want to buy a copy click the Amazon.com link to the right. | ![]() |
